Roy Rogers In The Atomic Age?
The Roy Rogers personna we most remember these days is firmly imprinted by the color westerns of 1949 and 1950 which he made. This film, the first release of 1950 is pretty good and complete. Film quality (Trucolor) leaves something to be desired in this original print, but it's O.K. Great off the beaten path location filming at Little Rock Dam near Palmdale Ca and at the Sable Ranch in Santa Clarita, with interiors and close-ups filmed on Republic sound stages. This is my main gripe. Great location shots and action and then inter-cut with back screen sound stage shots don't blend and ruin the effect for me. This, however, is a Roy Rogers picture and made mostly for kids and as such is very good of kind, so we can suspend a lot of realistic details. Enjoy this and if you can find the re-mastered digital print on DVD, get it. By the way, Coronado is in the title, but no where near the location. For fans especially,of which I'm one. Enjoy
